The purpose of this case is to evaluate FSG in a quadriplegic patient with a nonhealing right inguinal ulceration present for over four months.
Methods: Patient is a 69-year-old male with cerebral palsy and quadriplegia being seen at his residence for a nonhealing right inguinal ulcer present for over four months. Patient had failed conservative treatment after use of silver alginate and bordered foam dressing. Wound had initially formed after a catheterization procedure using the femoral artery of the right side. Patient agreed to undergo treatment with a skin substitute and was treated with Kerecis Omega3 Marigen 3cm x 3.5cm skin substitute. Patient initially had the wound debrided prior to application. Initial wound size was 2.0cm x 1.5cm x 0.3cm.
Results: Patient was subsequently seen on 03/23/ 2023. Measurements of the wound at this point was 1.5cm x 1.0cm x 0.2 cm. Patient underwent a second application of the same skin substitute of Kerecis. And was seen in follow-up on April 10th, 2023. Wound at this point measured 2mm x 4mm and was also treated with skin substitute.
Discussion:
The utility of this product for patients at high risk is once more demonstrated.
